About GEA

Great Escape Adventures (GEA) is an outdoor recreation service focused on providing kayak rentals and guided paddling experiences built around simplicity, safety, and convenience.

All experiences are offered by appointment only, with equipment delivered directly to the selected launch site and fully prepared before arrival. Each outing includes kayaks, paddles, and life jackets, with on-site setup handled to create a smooth, ready-to-go experience.

GEA operates with a small, hands-on approach to ensure every trip is organized, efficient, and well-supported from start to finish.

For safety and balance on the water, all kayak rentals require a minimum of two participants per booking..

Meet the Owner / Instructor

Great Escape Adventures was founded by Terry, an ACA Certified Flatwater Kayak Instructor with over a decade of experience on the water. After years of paddling and guiding across Central Ohio, he created GEA to share that experience with others in a way that feels welcoming, safe, and enjoyable.

  • Getting started is easy. Contact us at GEAOhio@gmail.com or text Terry at (248) 342-8607 to schedule your rental or lesson. All bookings require at least 48 hours’ advance notice and are available by appointment only.

  • Every rental includes a kayak, paddle, and life jacket. GEA maintains a fleet of 8 sit-in kayaks, one tandem, and all equipment is delivered and set up at the agreed-upon launch location for your convenience.

  • We serve multiple launch locations throughout Central Ohio including Twin Lakes, O’Shaughnessy Reservoir, Bellepoint, Griggs Reservoir, Alum Creek, Hoover Reservoir, and sections of the Olentangy and Scioto Rivers.

    Equipment is delivered directly to your selected launch site, making the process simple and convenient.

  • We provide a personalized, custom experience designed around your needs and goals. In addition to delivering equipment directly to your launch location, we also offer guided instruction from an ACA Certified Flatwater Kayak Instructor for paddlers of all experience levels.

  • Twin Lakes pricing is:

    • $20 for 1 hour

    • $35 for 2 hours

    • $50 for 3 hours

    Instructional lessons are available for an additional $10 per hour. Pricing may vary for other locations.

  • Trips are available Monday–Saturday from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM and Sundays from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM. All kayaks must be off the water by 8:00 PM. A minimum of two participants is required for all bookings. All participants must follow the kayaking eligibility criteria, and complete liability waiver.
